Project Theme“Holding a Talk About 'Cyberfeminism', Presenting New Work, and Conducting On-Site Research”
Nao Usami will conduct research on feminist art and Queer art in New York, as well as on galleries, communities, and educational institutions related to video games and digital art. During her stay, she will hold an exhibition and a talk about “Cyberfeminism.” Her new video work is a hybrid of 3D-CG animation and live-action footage documenting a performance, portraying the perspective of a protagonist who has experienced digital sexual harm, such as deepfake pornography, through a psychoanalytic lens.
Profile
Nao Usami is an artist currently focused on video, video games, and performance using 3DCG technology. She is interested in video games because they offer players an opportunity to experience the perspectives of other people and objects. Her recent work, “I stitch my skin to the ground” (2023), received an Honorary Mention in the New Animation Art category at Prix Ars Electronica 2024.
